Boeing 737 Type Rating

The Boeing 737 remains one of the most widely operated commercial aircraft families in the world, encompassing the B737 Classic, B737 Next Generation (NG), and B737 MAX series. The FAA’s common B-737 type rating allows qualified pilots to transition between aircraft variants through approved differences and transition training, creating exceptional career flexibility across a broad range of operators.

Boeing 757 Type Rating

Ask any pilot who has flown it and they are likely to tell you that the Boeing 757 is the best airliner they’ve ever flown.  Intended to replace the smaller three-engine B727 on short and medium routes and to takeoff and land from smaller runways, the B757 can carry 200 to 295 passengers up to 4,100 nautical miles.  Perhaps the attribute that most endears the B757 to pilots is that whether you are talking about short runways, high altitude airports or service ceilings, the B757 seeming never finds itself in a situation where it is underpowered for the job.  Designed concurrently with its wide-body sibling, the B757 shares a common type rating with the B767.  While the last B757 was delivered in 2005, the jetliner continues to be operated by airlines and cargo carriers who have yet to find a suitable replacement for this workhorse.

Boeing 767 Type Rating

Developed in tandem with the B757 in order to share a common type rating, the Boeing 767 is a wide-body twin-engine jetliner capable of carrying as many as 375 passengers and has a range of up to 6,385 nautical miles.   More than 1,000 airframes have been delivered to passenger and cargo operators around the world.  Conversion programs have further modified airframes to cargo use and military derivatives include the E-767 surveillance aircraft, the KC-767 and KC-46 tankers.

Flight Training International offers type rating courses for the B767-200 and B767-300.  Available training configurations include GE, Pratt and Whitney, or Rolls Royce Engines, Pegasus FMC, and IS&S Flat Panel Display Systems (FPDS).  B757-767 differences training is also available.

Boeing 777 Type Rating

The Boeing 777, commonly referred to as the “Triple Seven,” is a long-range wide-body twin-engine jet airliner with a passenger capacity of up to 396 and a range more than 8,500 nautical miles.  The B777 was the first passenger jet to be designed with entirely with computer-aided-design and is Boeing’s first fly by wire passenger jet. More than 1,500 B777s have been produced to date and another 400+ are on Boeing’s order books.  Current variants include the B777-200 and B777-300 with the B777-X slated for delivery in 2025.  The B777 shares many design features with the new 787 and the common type rating allows for a relatively short differences course between the two types.

Boeing 787 Type Rating

The Boeing 787, referred to as the “Dreamliner,” is a wide-body, twin-engine, jet airliner with a passenger capacity of more than 300 pax and a range more than 7,000 nautical miles.  The B787 is Boeing’s second fly by wire passenger jet, bringing ease of flight and the ease of flight management Boeing is known for together into one of the most advanced transport category aircraft available. More than 1,000 B787s have been produced to date and more on order.  Current variants include the B787-8, B787-9 and B787-10.  The B787 shares many design features with the B777 and the similarities allow for a relatively short differences course between the two types.

FTI offers training on the B787-800 and B787-900.  Available training configurations include GE, or Rolls Royce Engines.
